In a world where driverless taxis roam city streets without the need for drivers and delivery drones autonomously bring orders to customers' homes, the presence of multifunctional and intelligent robots in workplaces or even homes is not unimaginable.
However, achieving such a future requires significant advancements in building autonomous robots guided by powerful artificial intelligence. This challenging vision has encouraged many researchers to launch startups and attracted billion-dollar investments.
Matt Malchano, Vice President of Software at the well-known robotics company Boston Dynamics, says: "Fifteen years ago, our projects were solely focused on enabling a robot to move from one point to another, but now the meaning of autonomy encompasses a wide range of tasks that we envision robots being able to perform independently."
