Ivy League students usually don’t need to cheat with artificial intelligence because of their high intelligence and abilities. However, the pressure of competition, ambition, and busy schedules have led many of them to turn to AI tools to save time. When stress increases, choosing between real learning or using AI shortcuts becomes very challenging.
Recently, a major scandal was revealed at Brown University: many students at this university used AI to cheat on exams. According to research conducted at Princeton, about 30 percent of students at that university have cheated at least once on an exam or assignment with the help of AI. But the events at Brown University provide a broader perspective on how this cheating occurs and its impact on real learning. After one of the professors held an in-person exam, students’ grades were nearly cut in half, revealing that AI had replaced their learning.
