Many patients and their families have experienced that obtaining prior authorization for medical services, medications, or necessary procedures from insurance companies is not easy and sometimes leads to long delays and numerous difficulties. This process, known as "prior authorization," can, when used correctly, help control costs and prevent excessive use of medical services. However, most physicians believe it causes delays in treatment and even makes patients forgo recommended treatments.
It appears that artificial intelligence has the capacity to speed up the approval of some insurance requests by processing extensive data and reduce current issues. On the other hand, the use of artificial intelligence tools has triggered a negative reaction among many physicians; they believe that this technology may increase the number of rejected insurance requests, even for essential treatments. According to a 2025 survey by the American Medical Association, 61 percent of physicians are concerned that artificial intelligence will make approval conditions for medical services more difficult and lead to more rejections.
