YouTube currently requires content creators to inform their audience when they use AI to meaningfully alter or generate realistic content. However, new reviews show that this policy has very strange boundaries and faces serious challenges.
For example, these rules apply to AI-generated music, but do not include cases like riding a unicorn in a fantasy world. YouTube summarizes this policy by stating that realistic content created with AI and significant alterations require disclosure, while minor edits or completely unrealistic scenarios do not.
But the more interesting part of the story is that using AI for brainstorming, scriptwriting, designing thumbnails, generating titles, or even cloning the creator's own voice for narration is fully permitted without the need for a label. These loopholes show that the current policies of platforms are still a long way from the reality and complexities of modern tools.
