Before the July 2 deadline for submitting public comments, privacy activists have warned the FTC that strict oversight of X Elon Musk is necessary and that independent platform audits must not be ended.
Last month, the FTC announced that X claimed the previous order was unnecessary due to Musk's changes; however, the order was issued because of a code error that caused Twitter to previously share users' contact information for ad targeting.
According to this order, X is under scrutiny with independent audits in place, and the FTC has the ability to request documents to ensure compliance without further legal action.
