The nonpartisan, nonprofit organization Protect Democracy has filed a lawsuit against four federal agencies seeking the disclosure of information regarding a classified framework used by the Trump administration to conduct safety reviews of frontier AI models. The organization asserts that virtually no details of this process have been made public or even presented to Congress.
In a statement released alongside the lawsuit's filing, Protect Democracy emphasized that the specifics of how the federal review process functions, the companies involved in developing this framework, and the legal basis for the Trump administration's officials to conduct these reviews remain unknown to the public and legislative bodies. The organization also noted that neither the identity of the companies nor the criteria for selecting them have been disclosed.
