The Suno platform uses watermarks to identify AI-generated music

With the rapid expansion of AI-generated content on the internet, distinguishing human works from synthetic ones has become a serious challenge. Music streaming platforms like Spotify are now facing a massive volume of tracks created by AI. In this regard, Suno, considered one of the leading sources of AI music generation, has announced its plans to identify its generated content using audio watermarks and policy changes.

Mikey Shulman, CEO and co-founder of Suno, announced on the company's official blog that this step is necessary to keep pace with "emerging industry standards" in AI content labeling. Soon, all audio outputs from the company's models will feature watermarks, enabling hosting platforms to identify these tracks and decide on labeling or blocking them. It is not yet clear whether Suno will use its proprietary technology or opt for solutions like Google's SynthID—a powerful technology previously adopted by companies such as OpenAI and Nvidia.
