Stanford Research: AI Hits Entry-Level Jobs the Hardest

In recent years, AI experts have repeatedly warned that the rapid advances of this technology could lead to a job crisis. Today, an updated study by Stanford University economists shows that this threat is especially more noticeable for young people's entry-level jobs.

In the August 2026 version of the report “Carbon Mine Canaries? Six Realities about the Recent Effects of AI on Employment,” Stanford researchers, using fresh data and more precise statistics, showed that the employment level for individuals aged 22 to 25 in jobs most exposed to AI is 19 percent lower than their peers in less AI-affected sectors. This gap has increased compared to last year, which was 13 percent.

Meanwhile, older individuals appear to have been less affected by these changes so far.
