Salesforce unveiled a completely new version of Slackbot on Tuesday, transforming this simple notification tool into a powerful AI assistant. This new version, now available to Business+ and Enterprise+ customers, is capable of searching organizational data, writing texts, and taking actions on behalf of employees.
Unlike the old version that handled basic tasks like reminders and sending notifications, the new Slackbot is built on Anthropic's large language model called Claude and can access various sources such as Salesforce records, Google Drive files, and Slack conversations.
According to Parker Harris, co-founder of Salesforce, the new Slackbot is like a "Porsche" replacing the older, simpler version. This smart assistant has recently been quickly embraced among about 80,000 Salesforce employees, with users reporting saving between 2 to 20 hours per week by using it.
Early customers of the new Slackbot include companies such as Beast Industries (owner of YouTuber MrBeast), Slalom, and reMarkable, all of which have reported a significant reduction in time spent on daily tasks.
The main competition for this smart assistant comes from similar products like Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini, but according to Salesforce officials, Slackbot’s key advantage is its deep mastery of the Slack platform and its ability to perform tasks without requiring training or complex setups.
Looking ahead, Salesforce plans to position Slackbot as a “super agent” AI that can coordinate with other intelligent agents in organizations and play a central role in the software ecosystem, although this level of collaboration is unlikely before 2026.
Slackbot is offered at no additional cost with Business+ and Enterprise+ plans, but Salesforce’s new pricing changes for data access may lead to higher costs for some customers.
Salesforce believes the future of organizational work lies in conversational interaction with AI, and Slackbot embodies this movement, making work activities simpler and more effective.
