NVIDIA and the American Society for Deaf Children and the creative agency Hello Monday are trying to minimize this gap with the Signs platform a web-based platform for learning American Sign Language.

With the Signs platform linguists can use a book that uses 3D scans to teach and learn American Sign Language and AI tools that can receive instant feedback from learners of American Sign Language when using a webcam and when using the platform.

Anyone with any level of proficiency in American Sign Language can help the Signs platform by recording a series of specific words and contributing to the data set for American Sign Language.

Replacing AI tools for American Sign Language

Using this data set of 400000 video files showing 1000 American Sign Language words NVIDIA hopes these tools will enable complete communication between the deaf and hearing and properly learn American Sign Language.
