The expansion of AI-generated media has reached a level that is difficult for humans to conceive. According to statistics released by Starling Lab, generative AI managed to reach a record of 1.5 billion images in just 18 months, while it took humanity approximately 150 years to reach the same figure in the photography industry.
Google recently revealed during its I/O event that users have generated over 100 billion AI images and videos using its tools. To manage this enormous volume, Google introduced SynthID, a tool that helps users distinguish synthetic content from real content using invisible and resilient watermarks. However, despite the system's high precision, experts warn that this technology alone cannot fully resolve the widespread issue of fake information and deepfakes.
