After Google’s major defeat in court last week, the company announced that it still intends to fight against bots that extract its search data, and interestingly, Reddit has joined Google in this effort.
In last December, Google invoked digital copyright law to file a lawsuit against SerpApi, a company that collects Google search results and sells them through an unauthorized service called ‘Google Search API’. Google says this action bypasses its anti-scraping technologies and jeopardizes its relationships with content rights holders, especially for content shown as knowledge panels for individuals or recognized entities.
