Federal judge: Trump's anti-Islamic sanctions against Anthropic were illegal

A federal judge in Northern California ruled that the Trump administration's move to add Anthropic to the national security supply chain risk list was unlawful. The decision, issued by Judge Rita Lin, voided federal rules aimed at banning the company's AI technologies. According to the ruling, the government retaliated against the maker of the "Claude" technology after it refused the administration's request to remove ethical restrictions on using its products in autonomous warfare and for extensive surveillance of citizens. Judge Lin emphasized in her opinion that the nature of these actions constitutes a clear violation of the First Amendment's free speech protections, and the government's administrative practice in this regard was struck down.
