Google recently introduced its new AI-based image generation model called Nano Banana 2 Lite, which, according to its developers, offers a combination of very high speed and low cost along with acceptable quality. This model, part of the Gemini 3.1 family, is designed for applications such as rapid ideation and prototyping where image quality is of secondary importance.
Despite its speed and low cost, the image quality produced by Nano Banana 2 Lite is largely close to Google's more advanced models. According to reviews and user ratings on Arena.ai, the outputs of this model have been evaluated as nearly equivalent to its more complete versions. However, this model still has issues with generating small texts and detailed infographic information, and also maintains less consistency in faces and individuals in repeated images.
